About Us

Karie Hartle-Poirier, Owner

Seaway Speech was founded with a passion for helping individuals reach their full communication potential.

Karie has both professional and personal experience in the Speech & Language Industry. A mom of two boys with her youngest having special needs, she is compassionate and dedicated to making a difference. Believing in the importance of building confidence while utilizing strengths to target goals and advocating through team collaboration.

Her professional experience includes working for the school board as well as private speech therapy focusing on a variety of targeted goals including early intervention, speech sounds/articulation, receptive and expressive language skills, literacy, grammar, social/pragmatic skills, phonological awareness, and Augmentative & Alternative Communication/AAC. She is comfortable working  with a variety of populations and diagnoses including Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as with non-verbal children using AAC devices and has created a variety of visual aids to assist families. Karie uses a person-centered, fun, and creative approach and has a natural ability to connect with clients and collaborate effectively with others.

Jennifer Harper, M.H.Sc., SLP(C),

Jennifer is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 15 years experience working with children with a diverse range of needs, including articulation (speech sounds), fluency (stuttering), voice, expressive language, receptive language, and the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). 

She has worked with children ranging from preschool to high school age in various settings, including daycares, schools, and family homes.  She believes in putting families first, valuing the importance of a family-centred approach to help children grow their communication skills both inside and outside of their therapy sessions.  


Stephanie Ryan, M.CI.Sc., SLP,

Stephanie is a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist with a rich tapestry of experience woven over three decades. Since 2021, she has had the privilege of serving as a Professor in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program, where she shares her expertise and passion for speech and language pathology with the next generation of professionals. Guiding students through the intricacies of communication disorders and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in this vital field is her passion.

Fluent in both English and French, Stephanie embraces the diversity of communication, recognizing that language is a powerful tool that transcends barriers. Her bilingual proficiency allows her to connect with a broader range of clients and students, further enhancing her ability to provide tailored support.

Outside of her professional life, she is an avid enthusiast of the great outdoors. Whether perfecting her swing on the golf course, exploring scenic hiking trails, or tending to her garden, she finds joy and rejuvenation in nature. Staying active is a priority for her, and she is committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular workouts. In every aspect of her life, she is driven by a deep-seated passion for communication and connection. She believes that every voice deserves to be heard, and is honored to play a role in helping individuals discover their full potential.
